What is The Trench?

The People

There are 3 people who run The Trench, we are located in Auckland, Nelson and Christchurch, and bring a collective 50+ years knowledge to this website. We are all currently working in the industry full time, so we are in the right place to see the new developments in products. Through our existing networks, we will have access to materials, plant and resource that we will advertise on The Trench for the benefit of the whole country. Rest assured that the team at The Trench know what they are talking about.

The Purpose

The Trench has been created specifically for contractors, councils, or anyone in this industry, as a way to liquidate excess plant or materials. The Trench will also be a resource of information on new products, with a front page article each week on something that we think is worth looking at. Merchants and suppliers can use The Trench to advertise their excess / stagnant stocks, but will be not be allowed to advertise commonly used materials. This is also covered further down this page.

The Plan

The origin of the Trench starts in Nelson New Zealand, where in my current employment, I was helping out my customers by "brokering" deals between contractors, or councils. As this started occurring more and more, I realised that so often, a contractor required an item urgently, that was lying in a shed or yard of another contractor, only minutes down the road. This was the spark that made me see that New Zealand needed a website that would allow these sorts of transactions to happen on a national scale every day. From this original idea we have decided to spotlight a product each week, that is either new, improved or of significance to the market we work in. We are building databases of industry-specific knowledge that will be accessable to all members of this website. Information such as pipe diameters, pressure conversions and volume calculators will all be included.

The Placement.

The Trench is not here to circumvent, or change the current trading status quo within New Zealand. Companies will not be allowed to advertise new product for sale on the Trench, that is already being sold through existing merchants. We are placing ourselves into the market as a resource, not as another flashing advert selling a product you already know about.

We at The Trench are here to offer what we believe is a valauble service to the New Zealand Civil and Infrastructure contractors, and the local Councils.
